Seeking Ban on India-Bangladesh Test Series, Hindu Outfit Holds Protest in Chennai

Chennai: Activists of the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) staged a protest demonstration in Chennai on Thursday demanding the Indian government and the BCCI to stop the ongoing India-Bangladesh Test series due to the recent violence against the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.

Led by HMK chief Arjun Sampath, the demonstrators shouted slogans demanding protection for Bangladeshi Hindus and ban on the Cricket series against Bangladesh.

Their demonstration coincided with the first Test match of the two-match India-Bangladesh series, which began in Chennai on Thursday.

“Today, Hindu Makkal Katchi held a demonstration in front of MA Chidambaram Stadium, demanding the immediate cancellation of the cricket match with the Bangladesh team, which is ongoing,” Sampath told reporters.
