Wild Tiger Kills Shepherd in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur; 6th Incident in 2 Months

Mumbai: A shepherd was killed by a wild tiger in Mul tehsil of Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Thursday. It was sxth death in tiger attacks in the area in nearly two months.

The deceased identified as Devaji Warlu Raut was from the Chicholi area in Mul tehsil. He along with some other shepherds had gone to forests for grazing cattle when a tiger attacked and killed him on the spot.

Another shepherd of the group ran to Chicholi and informed the incident villagers, who in turn, alerted forest department. Forest officials found the victim’s body inside thick forests and sent it to Mul for post-mortem.

This was the sixth killing by wild tiger in Mul tehsil since August.

This year, 14 persons have been killed in tiger attacks under the Chandrapur forest circle.

The district in the eastern part of the Vidarbha region houses the famous Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve.
