National Film Awards 2024: President Droupadi Murmu Presents Awards To Winners

New Delhi: The 70th National Film Awards ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, celebrating the finest talents in Indian cinema. The event, presided over by President Droupadi Murmu, recognised excellence in films across languages and categories.

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honour in Indian cinema, for his remarkable contribution to the industry. This award acknowledged his decades-long impact on Indian cinema through his versatile performances.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee was honoured with a Special Mention for his role in Gulmohar, adding to his reputation as one of India’s finest actors. Meanwhile, KGF Chapter 2 took home the Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction awards, with Shailaja Vijay accepting on behalf of Hombale Films.

Rishab Shetty won Best Actor for his role in Kantara, applauded for his powerful performance. In the Tamil category, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 was awarded Best Tamil Film, further highlighting his directorial brilliance.

Birubala: Witch to Padmashri, an Assamese film by Aimee Baruah, received a Special Mention for its focus on the social issue of witch-hunting. Karthikeya 2 won the Best Telugu Film award, with producer Abhishek Aggarwal accepting.

In the non-feature category, Vishal Bhardwaj was recognised with the Best Music Direction award for Fursat, cementing his status as a master of cinematic music.
