16-Yr-Old Kaamya Karthikeyan Becomes Youngest Indian to Summit Mt Everest

New Delhi: Sixteen-year-old class 12 student Kaamya Karthikeyan successfully climbed Mt. Everest and became the youngest Indian to scale the world’s highest peak from the Nepal side, said the Indian Navy on Thursday.

Kaamya is the daughter of a naval officer, Cdr S Karthikeyan. She is a class 12 student at Navy Children School, Mumbai.

On May 20, Kaamya along with her father successfully summited Mt. Everest (8,849 m).

“After this feat, she has become the second youngest girl in the world, and the youngest Indian mountaineer to summit the world’s highest peak from the Nepal side,” the Indian Navy statement said.

With this, Kaamya has completed six milestones in her mission to summit the highest peak of all seven continents. She now plans to climb Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica in December 2024 to become the youngest girl to accomplish the ‘7summits challenge’, the Navy said.
