2 Elderly Women Trampled to Death by Wild Elephants In Separate Incidents in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Two elderly women were trampled to death by wild elephants in separate incidents in Balasore and Keonjhar districts in the wee hours of Tuesday.

An aged woman identified as Pintu Deuri was trampled to death by a herd of elephants at Santaragadia in Balasore district in the wee hours of Tuesday. The deceased hailed from the Srideipur village. She faced the herd of pachyderms while she was out of her home to attend nature’s call on Monday night.

Another woman named Muni Kisan of Telkoi in Keonjhar district faced an elephant attack while she had gone to pluck mahua flowers on Tuesday morning.

A wild elephant herd trampled her to death. Hearing her cry for help, the villagers rushed to the spot and shooed away the wild pachyderms.
