2 Workers Die, 5 Seriously Injured as Metal Plate Falls on Them at Factory in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Two workers died and five others were seriously injured when a metal plate accidentally fell on them at Orissa Metaliks Private Limited (OMPL) factory at Budhipadar in the Jharsuguda district on Tuesday.

The deceased were trapped under the metal plate. They were identified as Purnchandra Jena (34) of Ganjam district and Alek Deo Sahu (39) from Jharkhand.

According to reports, at around 11 am, the metal plate fell on the workers while they working near the blast furnace of the factory.

Workers demonstrated after this mishap. Local police reached the spot and tried to pacify the agitated workers.
