25-Yr-Old Male Elephant Found Dead in Keonjhar

Bhubaneswar: The carcass of a male elephant was discovered near the Soso village in the Keonjhar district on Wednesday.

According to forest officials, the dead elephant was aged about 25 years.

Villagers found the body of the dead elephant in a mango orchard and informed the forest department officials about it. According to reports, this elephant had strayed into the area from the Hadgarh Wildlife Sanctuary and was roaming near the Soso village.

Forest Department officials have reached the spot and have seized the carcass for autopsy to ascertain the reason behind its death.

Two days back, another tusker was electrocuted to death at Basiapada village under the Sambalpur Sadar Forest Range.
