Wild Elephant Electrocuted to Death in Dhenkanal Dist

Dhenkanal: A wild elephant allegedly fell prey to an electric trap laid by poachers to kill wild boars in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district in the wee hours of Wednesday.

As per reports, the ill-fated pachyderm died when it came in contact in contact with a live wire laid to trap wild boars near Kantakula canal in the Hindol forest division of the Dhenkanal district.

Locals discovered the carcass of the tusker early in the morning and informed the forest officials.

Personnel of the forest department and electricity distribution company reached the spot for investigation. The autopsy of the elephant will be conducted to ascertain the reason behind its death. Meanwhile, forest officials have started an investigation to nab the persons who had laid the electric trap.
