40 Passengers Escape Narrowly as Bus Catches Fire in Dhenkanal Dist

Dhenkanal: A passenger bus suddenly caught fire on NH 55 at Kanteiolia in Dhenkanal district at around 12.30 pm on Friday. But around 40 passengers had a narrow escape as they could manage to come out of the bus in time.

This passenger bus with registration number OD19L2169 was travelling from Talcher to Bhubaneswar via Dhenkanal. For some reason it caught fire near the college bypass.

The exact reason behind the fire has not been ascertained. But fire officials suspect that short circuit at the battery or overheating of tyre may have caused the fire accident.

Two units of Dhenkanal fire service doused the fire. Although the passengers were evacuated safely from the burning bus, their belongings were gutted in the fire.
