Pre-Election Crackdown: Over 40 Cartons of IMFL Worth ₹4L Seized in Odisha’s Bargarh

Bargarh: In a pre-election crackdown, cops in Odisha’s Bargarh district intercepted a vehicle and seized over 40 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).

Bargarh SDPO Padarabind Tripathy disclosed that they received credible information regarding the illicit transportation of IMFL within Bargarh town. Acting upon this intel, a police team, under the supervision of district SP Prahalad Sahai Meena, conducted a raid at Krushak Bazaar near the town’s cattle market.

During the operation, authorities discovered IMFL bottles of various renowned brands stashed inside 43 carton boxes, valued at over Rs 2 lakh. Alongside the liquor seizure, a refrigerator and a motorcycle were also confiscated from the scene. Three individuals from Bargarh district were apprehended in connection with the incident.

This move comes in response to directives from the Election Commission of India (ECI), mandating strict vehicle inspections to curb the illegal transportation of liquor, drugs, and other intoxicating substances ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.
