Over 10 Quintals Of Ganja Worth ₹1 Cr Seized In Odisha’s Boudh, Smugglers Escape

Boudh: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, excise officials in Boudh district seized over 10 quintals of ganja worth over Rs. 1 crore during a special raid conducted on Wednesday.

The raid, which was part of an ongoing drive by the excise department to curb illegal activities during the election season, was conducted based on specific intelligence. A team of officials targeted two locations in the Baghiapada area, believed to be storage points for a large quantity of ganja meant for smuggling out of the state.

A thorough search of the forest areas led to the recovery of over 5.15 quintals of ganja from one site and an additional 5.60 quintals from another nearby location. The combined weight of the seized cannabis surpasses 10 quintals, with an estimated street value exceeding Rs. 1 crore.

Despite the successful raid, the excise team was unable to apprehend any suspects. It is believed that the ganja smugglers, upon noticing the approaching officials, fled the scene to avoid arrest.
