FIR Filed Against BJP Chief JP Nadda, Amit Malviya & BY Vijayendra Over Social Media Post

Bengaluru: An FIR has been filed against key BJP figures, including party president J P Nadda, IT cell head Amit Malviya, and Karnataka unit chief B Y Vijayendra.

This follows a complaint by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), submitted to both the Election Commission and local police. The complaint alleges a violation of the model code of conduct.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Representation of People Act and the Indian Penal Code, including section 505(2) for statements promoting enmity between classes.

The KPCC’s complaint revolves around a video posted on the social media platform ‘X’ by the official account of Karnataka State BJP, allegedly operated by Malviya. The video, posted on May 4, depicts animated characters of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The portrayal of SC, ST, and OBC communities as “eggs” in a nest, with the suggestion of Rahul Gandhi planting a large egg labelled as the Muslim community, has sparked controversy. The video insinuates funding favouritism towards the Muslim community at the expense of SC, ST, and OBC communities, the complainant said.

The KPCC alleges that the video aims to incite rioting, promote religious enmity, and intimidate SC/ST community members from voting for a particular candidate, thus fostering hostility against them.
