27, Including 3 Children Killed in Stampede at ‘Satsang’ in UP’s Hathras

Hathras (UP): A religious gathering in Hathras district turned deadly on Tuesday after a stampede broke out, leaving at least 27 people dead and several others injured.

The incident occurred at a ‘satsang’ – a religious congregation – held in Pulrai village. According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Etah, Rajesh Kumar Singh, a large crowd had gathered for the event.

“Twenty-seven bodies have been brought to the Etah hospital,” Singh said, adding that the deceased included 23 women, three children, and one man.

Initial reports suggest overcrowding as the cause of the stampede. The exact circumstances are under investigation by Sikandara Rao police station.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He directed officials to reach the site immediately and provide assistance to those affected.
