280-Metre Bridge Over Vatrak River For Bullet Train Completed; Rail Ministry Shares Pic

Ahmedabad: A significant milestone has been achieved in the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) in India. The Vatrak River Bridge, located in Gujarat’s Kheda district has been successfully completed, as announced by the Ministry of Railways.

Spanning an impressive 280 meters, the Vatrak River Bridge connects the Anand and Ahmedabad Bullet Train stations. This bridge is one of 24 river bridges being constructed as part of the MAHSR project, with 20 of them situated in Gujarat and the remaining four in Maharashtra.

The Vatrak River, originating in the hills of Dungarpur, Rajasthan, flows into Gujarat near the village of Moydi in Meghraj taluka. Its proximity to the Anand Bullet Train station (25 km) and Ahmedabad Bullet Train station (30 km) makes the bridge a crucial component of the corridor.

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is overseeing the construction of the MAHSR, which has been steadily progressing since work commenced in November 2021. In addition to the Vatrak River Bridge, bridges have also been completed over the Par, Auranga, Purna, Mindhola, Ambika, and Venganiya rivers in Valsad and Navsari districts.

The ambitious MAHSR project was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his then-Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in Ahmedabad on September 14, 2017. The NHSRCL, established in 2016, is a joint venture between the Central Government, the Government of Gujarat and the Government of Maharashtra, tasked with financing, constructing, maintaining and managing the high-speed rail corridor.
