3 Linked to AAP, Congress Arrested in Amit Shah Doctored Video Case

New Delhi: Three individuals linked to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress have been arrested in connection to a doctored video featuring Union Home Minister Amit Shah purportedly advocating for the abolishment of reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

Officials from the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime department arrested two suspects, while another was arrested from Assam.

Shah had squarely pointed the finger at the Congress for disseminating the doctored video, attributing it to the party’s “frustration and disappointment.”

The fake video of the Union Home Minister gained traction on social media, with numerous Congress officials sharing it, alleging that the BJP has intentions to eliminate reservation policies.

During a press briefing in Guwahati, Shah refuted these claims, affirming that the BJP stands behind reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs, pledging to safeguard their interests.

He further criticized the Congress, asserting that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the party has stooped to new lows in politics.

Shah denounced the propagation of manipulated videos for garnering public support, emphasizing that such actions should be condemned and avoided by all major political entities.

In a related development, the Mumbai police have initiated legal proceedings against the Maharashtra Youth Congress’ social media account and 16 others for allegedly circulating the fake video, following a complaint lodged by a Mumbai BJP leader at the Bandra Kurla Complex cyber police station.
