4 Maoists Slain in Encounter in Chattisgarh’s Bastar

Raipur: Four naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Bijapur district of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday morning.

The exchange of fire took place at around 6 am on Tuesday during a joint anti-Maoist operation by the personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force, District Reserve Guards, Special Task Force and CoBRA.

The security forces were involved in a combing operation in the forests of Kendra-Korcholi villages in Gangaloor, when the Maoists opened fire sparking off the encounter.

Later on the Maoists preferred to escape from the spot leaving behind their dead colleagues. Bodies of four Maoists were recovered from the spot. One LMG automatic weapon, BGL launchers and other ammunition were seized from the spot of the encounter.
