5 Crew Members of Coast Guard Plane Missing After Hit by Japan Airlines Aircraft

Five of the six crew onboard the Coast Guard plane that collided with a Japan Airlines plane at Haneda airport on Tuesday are missing, reported NHK.

“There were 6 people in the aircraft, of which one escaped, and the safety of five people is unknown,” the Japan Coast Guard told NHK.

The Japan Airlines plane caught fire after the collision at Haneda airport.  All 379 persons in the burning plane, including eight children and 12 crew members, were evacuated safely.

Visuals showed flames coming out of the windows and the plane’s nose on the ground as rescue workers sprayed it.

The Japan Airlines plane arrived from Sapporo airport. All runways at the Haneda airport have been closed after the accident.

This mishap occurred a day after a powerful earthquake struck Japan killed at least 30 people, destroyed buildings and disrupted power supply.
