6 arrested in Andhra Pradesh for Urinating on a Tribal

Visakhapatnam: Six persons, who had allegedly urinated on a tribal man, were arrested from Ongole in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

According to police sources, on June 19, more than eight persons had beaten up a tribal named Mota Naveen and urinated on him. The tribal had to face this inhuman ordeal because of his allged relationship with a girl.

The attackers were led by Mannam Ramanjaneyulu and eight others including two juveniles. Ramanjaneyulu is still absconding.

Ramanjaneyulu and Naveen were friends but they had fallen apart when Naveen eloped with a minor girl related to Ramanjaneyulu’s friend.

A case under POCSO Act was also registered against Naveen. Despite it, Naveen continued to have relations with the girl.

With a proper plan to teach Naveen a lesson, Ramanjaneyulu called Naveen, feigning a patch-up over drinks. After getting drunk he and his friends attacked Naveen and the accused urinated on Naveen.

Following the attack, Naveen had filed a police complaint but did not reveal the urination part.

But when the video clip of Naveen being urinated upon made rounds, local police invoked the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act suo motu to arrest the culprits.
