7 More Positive Cases Detected, Scrub Typhus Cases Rise to 200 in Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar: Seven more scrub typhus positive cases were detected in the Sundargarh district during the past 24 hours. With it, the total number of Scrub Typhus cases in the district rose to 200 on Wednesday.

Out of 37 samples sent for testing, 7 were detected positive for scrub typhus. According to sources, all persons suffering from scrub typhus infection are not in alarming condition. Their health condition is stable.

Till now one person has died in Sundargarh district because of Scrub Typhus.

To check the rising trend of scrub typhus infection, the Odisha government’s Directorate of Public Health sent a special team to Bargarh and Sundargarh. A Joint Director and an epidemiologist have also been sent to Bargarh district to investigate the alleged death of five persons because of scrub typhus. Another Joint Director has been sent to Sundargarh as well.

Testing for scrub typhus is being conducted at Rourkela Government Hospital and the Sundargarh district health centre. The health department is also deploying ASHA and ANM volunteers to raise awareness about the disease.
