8 Of A Family Including 4 Children Killed as Sand-Laden Truck Overturns on Hut in UP

Lucknow: Eight members of a family including four children were crushed to death when a sand-laden truck overturned on a roadside hut on Unnao road in Mallawan Kotwali area in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district past midnight on Tuesday.

A girl was also injured in the accident. The deceased were sleeping in the hut.

According to police sources, the victims were from the Nat community. After midnight on Tuesday, a sand-laden truck, travelling from Kanpur to Hardoi lost control and overturned on the roadside hut of a man named Awadhesh alias Balla.

Bodies of Awadhesh (45), his wife Sudha (42), daughter Sunaina (11), Lalla (5) , Buddhu (4), Hero (22), her husband Karan (25), , their daughter Bihari (5) were recovered from the spot.

Bittu, daughter of Awadhesh, was injured in the incident.

Police have taken truck driver Awadhesh and helper Rohit into custody for investigation.
