9 Killed, Several Injured in Explosion at Firecracker Factory in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: A blast at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar district on Saturday killed at least nine persons and injured several others.

The magnitude of the blast was so great that four buildings near the firecracker factory were also destroyed.

The owner of the firecracker factory was rounded up from the Vembakottai area of Chennai city.

According to the police, seven people died on the spot while two succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the blast occurred in the chemical mixing room of the factory.
