Accused of Kindergarten Girls’ rape in Badlapur Killed in Encounter; CID to Investigate Killing

Mumbai: Akshay Shinde, who was accused of sexually assaulting two minor girls studying in Kindergarten classes at a school in Badlapur town of Thane district, was allegedly shot dead by a cop during an encounter on Monday evening.

According to reports, Maharashtra’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) will conduct a probe into the death of Shinde as he was killed while in police custody.

A team of forensic science experts on Tuesday examined the police vehicle, in which Shinde was allegedly shot.

He was shot dead near Mumbra bypass in Thane on Monday evening while he was being transported in a police vehicle. He allegedly snatched the gun of a cop and shot at a policeman in the vehicle.

According to the police, another personnel in the police escort team fired at Shinde, and he was declared dead by doctors at the Kalwa civic hospital

Shinde, 24, was a contractual sweeper at the school in Badlapur. He was arrested on August 17, five days after he allegedly sexually abused the two girls in the school toilet.
