Actor Darshan’s Fan Arrested by Karnataka Police For Issuing Threats

Bengaluru: A fan of jailed Kannada superstar Darshan was arrested by Karnataka Police on Tuesday in connection with a threat made to a film producer and an actor over their comments on the Renukaswamy murder case.

The arrested fan, identified as Chetan was arrested from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.

The police are also searching for another accused Nagesh, another die-hard fan of the jailed actor.

The accused had issued life threats to film producer Umapathy Gowda and Kannada actor Pratham. Gowda and Pratham’s personal opinions against the actor and their sympathy towards the murder victim Renukasamy who was kidnapped and tortured to death by Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, was not acceptable to the fans of Darshan.

Arrested accused Chetan made a video apologising for his act of issuing threats and promised that he would abide by the law..

Darshan’s fans are also releasing threatening videos warning media critics of the actor of dire consequences for talking against the jailed actor. The police department is preparing to initiate action in this regard as well.
