Actor-Politician Akash Dasnayak Joins BJP A Day After Quitting BJD

Bhubaneswar: Actor-turned-politician Akash Dasnayak on Sunday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha just a day after parting ways with the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Dasnayak, a former MLA representing Korei constituency in Jajpur, officially joined the BJP at the party’s Odisha unit headquarters in a ceremony attended by key leaders including BJP Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal, Sameer Mohanty, Pradeep Panigrahi, Sidhant Mohapatra, and Arindam Ray.

Having been elected to the Odisha Assembly on a BJD ticket in 2014 and serving as the chairperson of the Mo College initiative, Dasnayak’s decision to resign from BJD citing ‘loss of self-respect’ has stirred political discussions. In his resignation addressed to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Dasnayak emphasized his dedication to serving the people of Korei and hinted at future actions based on suggestions from his supporters.
