Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury “Conveys Regret” to TMC MP Derek O’Brien Over “Foreigner” Remark

New Delhi: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has expressed regret for referring to Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien as a “foreigner” amid allegations that Chowdhury is working for the BJP.

The controversial remark comes as Congress faces setbacks from its alliance partners AAP and TMC, which are opting to go solo in Punjab and West Bengal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Chowdhury stated that the Congress is encountering difficulties in obtaining permission for public meetings in West Bengal as part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Despite facing obstacles, he asserted that the Yatra will proceed as scheduled.

In another development, JD(U), led by Nitish Kumar, is likely to break ties with RJD and form a government in Bihar with the BJP. The BJP is expected to secure two Deputy Chief Minister berths in exchange for support, maintaining the current Assembly without dissolution. The focus will now shift to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in April/May.
