Akhilesh Yadav’s Sister-in-Law Aparna Yadav Appointed Vice-Chairperson of UP Women’s Commission

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced the appointment of key office-bearers to the state women’s commission. Among the appointees is Aparna Yadav, the sister-in-law of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who has been named as one of the vice-chairpersons.

Governor Anandiben Patel exercised her power to nominate Babita Chauhan as the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Mahila Aayog, alongside Aparna Yadav and Charu Chaudhary as vice-chairpersons.

Their terms will last for one year or until further notice from the state government, as per the official notification issued by Principal Secretary Leena Johri.

Aparna Yadav, who is married to Prateek Yadav, the step-brother of Akhilesh Yadav, had unsuccessfully contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from the Lucknow Cantt constituency as a Samajwadi Party candidate. She later joined the BJP in January 2022.
