All Govt Work in Odisha in Odia Language, Declares CM Mohan Charan Majhi

Bhubaneswar: All official works in government offices will be executed in Odia language and a commission will be formed for the promotion and preservation of Odia, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi after officially assuming charge at Loka Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

“Importance will also be given towards the promotion and preservation of Odia ‘Asmita’. Odia language will be widely used in government work. If needed, the Odisha Official Language Act will be amended,” said the Chief Minister.

He also announced that the Lalit Kala Akademi will be reconstituted. A Translation Academy and an Odia Asmita Bhawan will be established. Added to it, Odissi Research Centre will be activated.

The Translation Academy will promote Odia language and literature. “Language Commission will be set up and the government work will be executed in Odia language. Odia Bhasha Pratisthan will be reconstituted,” said Majhi.

He also said that Samanwita Sanskruti Bhawan will be set up in all districts to promote local art and culture. He promised to expedite the work of Paika Academy and Memorial in Barunei.
