All Schools in Sundargarh Dist Closed Today for Cyclone Michaung Induced Incessant Rains

Sundargarh: Because of the unseasonal incessant rains caused by the aftereffect of the Cyclone Michaung, Sundargarh district administration ordered for closure of all schools in the district on Thursday.

The District Education Officer (DEO) intimated this to all school authorities. According to reports, unseasonal rains have continued in several parts of the Sundargarh district since Monday.

The Sundargarh district recorded 51.2 mm of rainfall on Tuesday and it increased to 57.80 mm by Wednesday evening.

Because of the rains due to the Michaung cyclone, all schools in the Gajapati district were closed till Wednesday.

The regional meteorological department has issued an orange warning to Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam as some areas of these districts might experience heavy rainfall ranging from 70 mm to 200 mm.

Yellow warning has been issued to Puri, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, and Kandhamal.

The fishermen have been directed not to venture into the sea till Friday.
