Andhra Ex-Minister’s Son Arrested in Agrigold Land Scam

Hyderabad: The Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) of Andhra Pradesh arrested former Andhra Pradesh minister and YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh’s son Jogi Rajiv in connection with Agrigold land scam.

The ACB conducted raids at the property of former Andhra Pradesh minister in relation to the case. Jogi Rajiv is the prime accused in this land scam case.

Agrigold was a dubious ponzi scheme operating in eight states. It conned mostly poor depositors and went bust in 2014.

The directors of Agrigold sold off some of the property of the company. Jogi Ramesh, the former housing minister of Andhra Pradesh is accused of using his position to acquire 2300 square yards of land belonging to Agrigold.

He is said to have subdivided the land in plots and then sold it off to earn huge profit. It is also alleged that he threatened officials to get such plots registered illegally. Other family members of the former minister are also alleged to be involved in the scam.

A team of ACB officials raided the residence of Jogi Ramesh at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada on Tuesday morning., according to sources.

Following the arrest of his son Jogi Ramesh claimed his son who studied in the US and worked at a multinational company was innocent. He alleged that the arrest of his son was political vendetta by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his son and minister Nara Lokesh.
