Bangladesh MP Goes Missing In Kolkata, Murder Suspected

Kolkata: A Bangladesh MP, Anwarul Azim Anar from the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party Awami League, has gone missing in Kolkata, reported NDTV.

He arrived in Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment.

The 56-year-old Bangladeshi Awami League MP’s mobile phone is also currently switched off.

The police suspect that he has been murdered and that his body has been dumped in Kolkata’s Newtown area, reported NDTV. The police have recovered a chopped body in Newtown, which has not been identified yet.

The Bangladeshi politician was staying at the residence of his friend, Gopal Biswas in Kolkata. He reportedly went missing on May 14, following which Mr Biswas filed a missing complaint with the Kolkata police.

Anwarul Azim Anar’s family also raised the issue with Sheikh Hasina, and the Bangladeshi PM’s office has informed diplomats in Delhi and Kolkata about the matter.
