BJP Activist Killed by Suspected Maoists in Poll-Bound Chhattisgarh

Raipur: A BJP worker was allegedly shot dead by suspected Naxalites in the Maoist-affected district of Mohla Manpur in in poll-bound Chhattisgarh. The incident took place on Friday evening.

Receiving information, personnel of the state police, Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), District Reserve Guard (DRG) rushed to the spot. , and others immediately reached the spot after receiving the information.

The deceased Birjhu Taram was killed by gunmen in the Mohla Manpur Ambagarh Chowki district, under the Aundhi police station.

As it is a Maoist-infested region, it is possible that Naxalites may have murdered the BJP activist.

On Saturday morning, two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district.

Polling for 20 seats in the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly will be held on November 7 while votes for the remaining 70 seats will be cast in the second phase on November 17.
