BJP-led NDA To Stake Claim To Form Government Today: Reports

New Delhi: The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to meet President Droupadi Murmu to stake claim for forming India’s new government, according to reports.

The meeting, attended by senior leaders including PM Modi, Amit Shah, and JP Nadda, aims to stake claim to form the new government.

The BJP’s victory, though significant, was marked by a narrow margin, making the show of strength crucial. Alongside Modi, leaders like TDP’s N Chandrababu Naidu and JD’s Nitish Kumar, whose combined 28 MPs are pivotal for the NDA, will be present. Both parties won considerable seats in their respective states.

Speculation suggests that Congress may attempt to woo Naidu and Nitish Kumar to its side. However, neither leader has disclosed their stance yet. Talks may include demands for special status for their states and ministerial positions.

The opposition INDIA bloc presented a formidable challenge to the BJP, falling short of the majority mark by 40 seats. Congress, part of the INDIA bloc, has indicated interest in courting Naidu and Nitish Kumar.

Earlier, PM Modi met with Prez Murmu to resign ahead of the government’s dissolution on June 16. He was asked to continue until a new government is formed.

Despite concerns over BJP’s performance, PM Modi reiterated a commitment to continue the work done over the past decade. In his victory address, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the people’s trust in the NDA for a third term and pledged to fulfil their aspirations.
