Bus Driver Dies of Heart Attack in Moving Bus, But Saves 65 Passengers Before Death

Balasore: The driver of a private bus with around 65 pilgrims died of sudden cardiac arrest while driving the vehicle near Patapur road under Nilagiri police station in Balasore district on Tuesday.

But the ill-fated driver managed to save the lives of all the pilgrims before breathing his last. The deceased driver was identified as Sheikh Akhtar MD. He managed to stop the bus while he suffered a massive heart attack accompanied by severe chest pain.

This driver was driving a Volvo bus named Naskar Travels that was on its way to Panchalingeswar temple in Balasore district from Howrah.

While on the route to Baba Panchalingeshwar’s shrine, the bus driver suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest on the Pitapur road. When he stopped the vehicle and collapsed on its steering wheel, the passengers with the help of locals took him to the Nilagiri sub-divisional hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

A local driver drove the bus of pilgrims to the Panchalingeshwar temple. The tourists thanked the local driver as well as the driver of their vehicle, for whom they were saved from a major mishap. Personnel of the Nilgiri police station have seized the body of the dead driver for autopsy and have initiated a probe.
