Chandrababu Naidu Proposes to Meet Revanth Reddy Creating Speculations

New Delhi: Speculations are rife in political circles as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has proposed a one-to-one meeting with his Telangana counterpart Revanth Reddy to discuss issues arising out of the bifurcation of the state.

Naidu’s TDP is part of the BJP-led NDA. Naidu has proposed to meet Revanth Reddy at his residence in Hyderabad on July 6.

In a letter to Reddy, Naidu said it was important for the chief ministers of the Telugu-speaking states to “foster close collaboration” to ensure sustained progress and prosperity of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

“It has been 10 years since the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. There have been multiple discussions concerning issues arising from the Reorganisation Act, which hold significant implications for the welfare and advancement of our states,” said Naidu in the letter.

Reddy was a TDP member and a confidante of Chandrababu Naidu before he joined the Congress.

Naidu’s proposal to meet Reddy comes at a time when the deadline set by the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, for Hyderabad to be the joint capital of the two states has ended.

Hyderabad will now be the capital of Telangana alone. Andhra Pradesh is yet to have a capital city. The TDP is planning to develop Amaravati as the state capital.

The previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government had made a three-capital proposal with Amaravati the legislative capital, Kurnool the judicial capital and Visakhapatnam the administrative capital. His plans did not materialize.
