Chandy Oommen Retains Puthuppally Seat for Congress in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Chandy Oommen, the son of late Congress leader Oommen Chandy, retained the Puthuppally assembly seat Kerala by a margin of over 36,000 votes in the bypoll.

Chandy Oommen surpassed his father’s record of a margin of 33,255 votes in the constituency.

The late Congress leader Oommen Chandy represented the Puthuppally assembly seat for more than five decades. Because of his demise byelection to the seat was held on September 5.

Chandy Oommen is a practising lawyer and serves as adjunct faculty at Amity University and Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Delhi.
