According to a British newspaper, AstraZeneca has submitted before a court that its COVID Vaccine can, in very rare cases, cause TTS or Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome that can cause blood clots and low platelet count.

According to the report, 51 cases have been lodged in the UK High Court against the AstraZeneca. The victims are seeking compensation worth up to GBP 100 million.

Covishield was developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. It was mass produced by the Serum Institute of India. It was widely used in India during the COVID pandemic.

This recent statement of AstraZeneca coincides with rising concerns in India after a surge in case of sudden heart attacks.

Meanwhile, the Opposition has also launched a scathing attack against the Narendra Modi government and asked if this was the reason Serum Institute of India, the company that produced the vaccine, paid crores in Electoral Bonds to the BJP.
