Cricket Approved By IOC For 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

Mumbai: Cricket has received approval from the International Olympic Committee’s executive board to be included in the lineup for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. This exciting announcement came after a meeting in Mumbai, with IOC President Thomas Bach confirming the decision.

The LA organizers proposed adding Twenty20 cricket, the sport’s shortest international format, as one of the five new sports for the 2028 Olympics. These new sports would also include baseball/softball, flag football (a non-contact version of American football), squash, and lacrosse.

However, it’s important to note that the final inclusion of these new sports in the 2028 Games is contingent on a vote by the IOC membership. This vote is scheduled to take place on Monday, providing the last step to secure their place at the Olympics.
