Denied A Mobile Phone, Class 8 Student Consumes Poison in Keonjhar Dist

Keonjhar: Hinting at the rising smartphone addiction among children, a 14-year-old boy reportedly consumed poison when his parents refused to provide him a mobile phone in Keonjhar district of Odisha on Saturday.

This boy studies in Class 8 in the Mahadeijoda Laxminarayan High School in the Keonjhar Sadar area. He has been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical state.

According to sources, on Saturday morning, the boy pressed his parents to get him a smartphone. When his parents expressed their inability to buy him one, the upset boy consumed pesticide kept at home. When his condition deteriorated, his family members rushed him to the hospital.
