Denied Ticket, Kakatpur’s Former BJD MLA Surendra Sethi Quits Party

Bhubaneswar: Surendra Sethi, the former MLA of Kakatpur in Puri district resigned from the BJD on Tuesday.

He sent his resignation letter to the BJD president Naveen Patnaik. The BJD has re-nominated Tusharkanti Behera for the Kakatpur assembly seat. Sethis was aspiring to get the ticket.

Sethi won from Kakatpur on a BJD ticket in 2014. But the BJD gave the ticket to Behera in place of him in 2019.

Sethi was dissatisfied with the decision. He continued in the party hoping to get a ticket in 2024, which did not happen. He was the state council member of the BJD.

The former BJD MLA from Karanjia, Bijay Kumar Naik also resigned from the party alleging that he was being sidelined.
