Electric Air Taxi Service May Start in India in 2026

New Delhi: InterGlobe Enterprises is planning to launch an all-electric air taxi service in India in 2026. InterGlobe Enterprise is behind India’s IndiGo airline, and U.S.-based Archer Aviation.

This electric air taxi service is being envisioned to be “cost-competitive” with on-road services, the company authorities said on Thursday.

This electric air taxi service aims to cater to the transport solutions in India that faces severe ground traffic congestion and pollution in its major cities.

Archer Aviation is making electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts. These e-aircrafts can carry four passengers and a pilot for up to 161 kilometers.

The company plans to start its service in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru with 200 e-aircrafts.

It is being said that distances covered in 60 to 90 minutes by car in Delhi will take about 7 minutes in an air taxi.
