Elephant Carcass Found in Angul, Suspected to Have Died of Electrocution

Angul:  The carcass of a wild elephant was discovered at the Kantamegha village under the Bantala forest range of Angul district in Odisha on Monday.

The body of the elephant was found in the backyard of a villager named Antar Sahoo of the village.

According to sources, the trunk of the deceased elephant touched the electric fencing wire while the animal tried to savour on a banana plantation in Antar’s backyard.

The Forest Department officials have reached the spot to ascertain the reason behind the death of the pachyderm.

On April 15, another elephant was electrocuted to death at the Badahinso village of Bantala area in Angul district. Two persons were arrested in the case.
