Sundargarh: An ailing wild elephant died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at Khesara forest under the Banki forest range in Sundargarh district.
According to forest officials, this ailing pachyderm was first spotted in the Koida Range. Later it shifted to the Banki Range. When it was found that the condition of the tusker had deteriorated, forest officials tracked down the animal and tranquilized it for treatment.
However, the ailing elephant animal succumbed while undergoing treatment.
The carcass of the elephant was buried after post-mortem.
According to the forest officials, the exact reason behind the death of the elephant can be ascertained after post-mortem report comes.
