Fate’s Double Blow; Son Crushed by Fallen Tree During Father’s Funeral in Koraput

Koraput: Fate took a double tragic turn for a family in Koraput district as a youth died during the funeral of his father at Kamata village under Borigumma block.

The youth named Benudhar Mandal died as a tree fell on him while he was attending his father Laxman Mandal’s funeral on Wednesday. The tree is said to have been uprooted because of the incessant rains in the area.

Benudhar was rescued in critical condition and rushed to the Borigumma Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead.

His father Laxman had breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College Hospital in Koraput on Wednesday morning. His body was taken to Kamta for cremation.

Benudhar Mandal was making preparations for his father’s funeral when the large tree suddenly fell on him.

The bereaved family as well as the villagers was shocked by the death of the father-son duo in a few hours.
