Ganjam Army Jawan Murder Case, 5 Accused Arrested

Berhampur: Five persons were arrested in connection to the murder of an army jawan J. Dileswar Patra in the Chamakhandi area of the Ganjam district in Odisha.

The persons arrested by the Chamakhandi police station were, J. Kalyani Patra, CH Sekhar and B. Cheneya of Kalipalli village and B. Bulu Patra and CH Biki Kumar Patra of Nimakhandi.

The police have seized two bikes and two mobile phones from the possession of the arrested persons.

A few days back, Patra had come to his home in Kalipalli on leave. Along with some friends, he had gone to watch a cricket match in Gopalpur area of Ganjam on December 3. There he entered into an argument with some youths during the cricket match.

Later some miscreants intercepted Patra near Haripur Square while he was returning back home, and made a lethal attack on him with sharp weapons.

Seriously injured Patra was first admitted to a hospital in Berhampur and later shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar. He died during treatment on December 6.
