Gopal Sahu, Who Played Kamsa in Bargarh Dhanu Yatra for 23 Yrs, Passes Away

Bargarh: Gopal Sahu, who is remembered for his iconic role of demon king Kamsa in Bargarh Dhanu Yatra breathed his last at the age of 70 on Monday night at a private hospital in Jharsuguda.

He hailed from the Kainsira village under Barapali block in the  Bargarh district. He enthralled all by portraying the role of Kamsa in the world’s largest open-air theatre, Bargarh Dhanu Yatra for 23 years.

According to reports, he was staying in Jharsuguda with his youngest son in Jharsuguda. After suffering illness, he was admitted to the hospital. He died late Monday night while undergoing treatment.

Personalities of the cultural fraternity and Dhanu Yatra enthusiast have condoled his death.
