“Return and Surrender”: HD Deve Gowda Issues Ultimatum to Prajwal Revanna

Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and JD(S) chief, HD Deve Gowda on Thursday issued a stern warning to his grandson Prajwal Revanna, the NDA’s candidate from Karnataka’s Hassan Lok Sabha seat, amidst allegations of sexual assault. Prajwal, accused of serious charges including rape and sexual assault, has triggered a nationwide uproar.

In a public letter, Deve Gowda expresses pain and betrayal inflicted upon his family, colleagues, and supporters due to Prajwal’s actions. He emphasized that if Prajwal is found guilty, he should face the harshest legal penalties, a stance supported by his son and former Karnataka Chief Minister, HD Kumaraswamy.

Prajwal, who reportedly fled to Germany on April 27, faces an active arrest warrant and a Blue Corner Notice from Interpol. Deve Gowda has issued an ultimatum for Prajwal to return to India and submit to the legal process, warning of facing his family’s wrath and complete isolation otherwise.

The scandal has prompted over 100 intellectuals in Karnataka to petition Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for Prajwal’s immediate arrest and protective measures for witnesses. Despite appeals, there has been no significant response from the central government.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for swift action to cancel Prajwal’s diplomatic passport allegedly used in his escape.
