Dhenkanal: Hindol MLA Simarani Nayak on Tuesday joined the BJP, following her resignation from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after being denied a ticket for the upcoming 2024 Assembly polls.
She was elected twice to the Odisha Assembly. In her resignation letter sent to the BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, she thanked the BJD supremo for giving her an opportunity to serve the people of the Hindol Assembly constituency in Dhenkanal district for 10 years.
Nayak’s departure comes as the BJD opted to replace her with sitting Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahu as its candidate for the Hindol assembly seat.
