ICC Suspends Sri Lanka Cricket Board’s Membership Over Governance Breach

Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board has suspended Sri Lanka Cricket’s membership with immediate effect, citing significant violations of its responsibilities as an ICC Member. The ICC Board will determine the specific conditions of the suspension at a later date.

The decision comes after the ICC found that Sri Lanka Cricket had failed to manage its affairs autonomously and prevent government interference in the governance, regulation, and administration of cricket within the country.

This is a significant development, as it underscores the importance of cricket boards operating independently to uphold the integrity and autonomy of the sport.

The ICC Board will continue working with Sri Lanka Cricket to address and resolve its membership status issues.
