IISER Berhampur Student Ends Life in Hostel Room

Berhampur: Samaysatya Murmu, a first-year student of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur in Odisha was found hanging in his hostel room.

The 18-year-old deceased was the son of Bajun Murmu, of Chandipur Defence Colony in Balasore.

Samaysatya was admitted to IISER in 2023-24 academic year. He was staying in Boys’ Hostel-1 on the premises of the institute in the Golanthara area of Ganjam.

He was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his hostel room.

Although he was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.

Police could not find any suicide note in the hostel room of the deceased student.
