IND vs AFG, 3rd T20I: Rohit’s Blazing Ton, Rinku Blitz Propel India to 212/4 After Shaky Start

Bengaluru: Captain Rohit Sharma smashed a scintillating century to lead India to a commanding 212/4 in the third and final T20I against Afghanistan on Wednesday. With the ton, Rohit became the first cricketer to smash 5 hundreds in T2oI history and also the only batsman with at least 5 tons in each of the formats.

After a shaky start (22/4 in 5 overs), Rohit (121* off 69 balls) and Rinku Singh (69* off 39 balls) stitched together a mammoth 190-run partnership to resurrect the Indian innings. Rohit, in particular, was brutal, showcasing his full repertoire of strokes to reach his ton in style. Rinku, too, played a crucial role, providing valuable support and accelerating the scoring later in the innings. Smashing their way to 212, India notched up 36 runs in the final over.

Fareed Ahmad Malik was the lone bright spark for Afghanistan, picking up crucial wickets in the powerplay to put India on the back foot. He finished with impressive figures of 3/20, but his efforts were overshadowed by Rohit and Rinku’s masterclass.

Brief scores:

India: 212/4 in 20 overs (Rohit Sharma 121*, Rinku Singh 69*; Fareed Ahmad Malik 3/20).
